Learn to import, edit, save and export your manuscript with Folio.

  1. 01

    Choose your starting point

    Open the app on a tablet or desktop. Choose Book, Thesis or Journal. Thesis → Book provides a separate review workflow.

  2. 02

    Import or start fresh

    Select one file or multiple chapters. Only separate chapter Word .docx uploads are accepted. Add more chapter files and combine them in Chapters.

  3. 03

    Review the structure

    Inspect headings, notes, lists and warnings. Set the theme, then size and margins independently.

  4. 04

    Edit and preview

    Click text for formatting tools. Use Edit file for full-manuscript changes; style chapter headers and contents without duplicating source titles.

  5. 05

    Save your work

    Save locally and download a backup. Optional cloud saving compresses the project losslessly, up to 10 MB compressed and 40 MB expanded.

  6. 06

    Export and check

    Choose chapter DOCX ZIP, PDF or EPUB. Trial publication exports require a project of ten pages or fewer. Longer manuscripts remain editable; upgrade to export them. Word and reflowable ebooks may repaginate.

Before your next chapter.

Can I upload one document or separate chapters?

Upload one chapter file or select multiple separate chapter files together. Documents containing multiple detected chapters are rejected. Add and combine more chapter DOCX files inside the editor.

Do you publish my uploaded manuscript?

No. Import and formatting run in your browser. A cloud snapshot is sent only when you choose to save it. Selecting Omega Standard does not submit a publishing request.

Can I turn a thesis into a book?

Yes. Use Thesis → Book to review research structure for general readers. You decide which edits to apply; formatting alone does not rewrite a thesis into a finished trade book.

Will every export look identical?

PDF follows the page preview. Word may repaginate with installed fonts and its own layout engine. Reflowable EPUB adapts to screen size; fixed EPUB retains page dimensions.

What if my subscription ends?

Your manuscript is preserved. Your original and saved projects remain available. Complete exports depend on active paid access.

Is AI required?

No. Formatting, saving, editing and exports do not require a language model. Browser checks work locally. Generative offline AI requires a separately configured local installation.
